For the third year in a row, AC Lens will be participating in Race for the Cure Columbus! We’ve assembled our team and have set a goal of $4000. AC Lens is going to match all donations up to $2,000 raised by employees and will also match up to $2,000 for all funds raised by friends and family. With all goals reached AC Lens and our Team could be making a contribution of $8000 or more!

AC Lens participated in the Swing Fore Sight golf outing in Atlanta Georgia to help raise money for Prevent Blindness Georgia. The event helps Prevent Blindness Georgia do vision screening and other various events to help put an end to preventable blindness. World Sight Day 2010 is just one week away on Thursday, October 14th. Vision 2020, The Right To Sight, has themed this years day around “Countdown to 2020,” the goal date to end preventable blindness.

4% of the worlds population, roughly 300 million people, are blind with 80% of those cases preventable. World Site Day 2010 is a partnership between World Health Organization (WHO) and International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). The day is intended to raise awareness of blindness, vision impairments, and other sight related international public health issues. The WHO and IAPB rally governing bodies and health departments to spread resources and funds for national blindness prevention programs.

It’s that time of year again to join AC Lens for the 3rd annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraiser in Columbus, OH. Autism is a brain development disorder in young children affecting as many as 1.5 million people in the USA.

With 12 people already a part of the AC Lens team, and one month until the walk, AC Lens is expecting a huge turnout and fundraising effort for the cause. Here’s more details for the walk:

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption is a nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity dedicated to dramatically increasing the number of adoptions of children from foster care in North America. Dave Thomas, founder of Wendy’s, established the Foundation in 1992. AC Lens took part in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure this past weekend in Columbus, OH. Walkers, runners, and sleepers raised $2145 for breast cancer. AC Lens CTO Philip Dietrich ran the timed race finishing 208 out of 1116 timed runners.

Komen is the leader in global breast cancer awareness and Race for the Cure is their flagship event.
