Bio True One-Day Contact Lenses – The Future Of Disposable Lenses?

by admin on August 3, 2012

According an article in the Ohio News Network, Dr. Joseph Barr and Dr. Mohinder Merchea, both of which are alumni of The Ohio State University’s School of Optometry announced a brand new daily disposable contact lens that could provide even greater comfort than traditional disposable lenses provide.

The contact lenses are named Bio True One Day Contact Lenses, and as the name would suggest, their design was inspired by the natural biological environment of the eyes. Developed for Bausch and Lomb, Bio True One Day lenses are made up of 78% water, which is the same amount of water found in the eye’s cornea, allowing for healthy comfortable wear and a steady stream of oxygen to the eye.

Bio-True is already a name brand contact lens solution manufactured by Bausch and Lomb, and just like the Bio True One Day Lenses, Bio True lens solutions are  inspired directly from the unique biology of our eyes.

I tried to get a free trial of the contacts however Professional Eye Care at the Oak View Mall in Omaha doesnt have them.' gstockmaster October 26, 2012 at 9:02 am

These contact lenses are brand new, and I don’t believe they’ve been formally released for retail yet. We’ll definitely carry them once they make it to the store shelves, hopefully they pass FDA approval and go on sale soon!' michelle November 30, 2012 at 10:55 am

When were biotrue lenses approved? My optician gave me samples about a month ago and can’t get them on 800 contacts yet' gstockmaster November 30, 2012 at 1:48 pm

The Biotrue lenses have not been released for mass production yet. AC Lens will be carrying the bio-true lenses as soon as they’re available for retail, and we’ll likely be able to beat any prices found at 800 contacts.' Erik Smith February 12, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Have you had many reviews on the Bio True lenses? Are they as good as advertised?' gstockmaster February 12, 2013 at 3:53 pm

We still do not carry the Bio-True lenses, so we can’t say whether our customers have found them useful or not. From what we’ve heard however, the Bio-True lenses are extremely comfortable. With that said, I would ask your eye doctor for advice next time you have an eye examination!
