Starting February 1, 2011 AC Lens will offer CooperVision’s new lens Avaria Toric, a silicone hydrogel lens for astigmatic patients. The Avaira Toric lens is designed to provide consistent performance in a broad range regardless of their prescription.
“There are many reasons why contacts feel comfortable. But to provide a truly exceptional level of comfort, there is one general rule a lens must follow: moist is good,” states CooperVision’s website.
Avaira Toric contact lenses are made from a unique silicone hydrogel material that binds water within the lens material itself by utilizing the company’s Aquaform Comfort Science. This permits greater all-day comfort, and creates a natural hydrophilic lens that maintains water. Also, Avaira Toric is manufactured from enfilcon A, a substance that has a high oxygen permeability and a relatively low modulus. This material is what makes these lenses inherently more wettable, no internal wetting agent or surface treatment is required. Avaira Toric has a water content of 46%.
Adding to the hydration and comfort, Avaira Toric contact lenses also provide improved visual performance in a broad range for astigmatic patients with just about any cylinder power or axis. This is done through the positioning of the lens ballast and smooth surface of the lens. Avaira Toric lenses feature a consistent horizontal thickness across the power range to improve lens stability and a wide ballast band that encircles the optic zone to optimize lens-lid interaction for even greater comfort.
Avaira Toric was launched in June, but demand was so high for this lens, the launch was restricted to a few thousand customers that had a fitting set. Due to this high demand, Avaira Toric will now be available everywhere on February 1, 2011.
“Avaira Toric has performed extremely well in the market. We are pleased to now offer this outstanding product to a broad range of eyecare professionals,” said James Gardner, vice president of Marketing, the Americas, at CooperVision. “Avaira Toric is a great addition to our Avaira family of products and our growing portfolio of silicone hydrogel lenses.”
If you are an astigmatic patient, ask you eyecare doctor if Avaria Toric is right for you and look for it on AC Lens February 1, 2001 – only two weeks from now.
UPDATE: The Avaira Toric is now in stock. Order now or see your eye doctor to find out if this lens is right for you.
